View MtBakerWeather.comUnderstanding the weather here is the key to a perfect trip. Because of the massive elevation change between our cabins in Glacier and the Mt. Baker Ski Area, conditions can be drastically different. It is common to have a cozy, rainy day at your cabin (approx. 900 ft elevation) while heavy snow is falling at the ski lodge (3,500+ ft elevation).

Winter (November To March)
The season of snow sports and cozy fires.
Average Temp (Glacier): 26°F – 45°F
Average Snowfall (Ski Area): 660+ inches annually
What to Expect: This is prime ski season. While the cabins in Glacier often see rain or a wintry mix, the ski area is famous for holding the world record for snowfall.

Spring (April – June)
The waterfalls are roaring, and the crowds are low.
Average Temp: 34°F – 64°F
What to Expect: Spring is the “wet season” in the valley, which makes for incredibly lush green forests and powerful waterfalls (like Nooksack Falls). The ski area often remains open into late April.
Roads: Artist Point road usually remains closed until late June or July due to snowpack.
Best For: Waterfall hikes, late-season spring skiing, and peaceful retreats.
Suggested Stay: Coxy Forest Getaways »

Summer (July – August)
Perfect mountain weather.
Average Temp: 50°F – 75°F (can reach 90°F)
What to Expect: Bluebird days and cool, refreshing nights. Most of our homes do not have A/C because the mountain air cools down significantly after sunset.
Roads: The road to Artist Point is OPEN, offering 360-degree views of Mt. Shuksan and Baker without hiking.
Best For: Hiking, mountain biking, fishing, and BBQs on the deck.
Suggested Stay: View Waterfront Properties »

Fall (September – October)
Vibrant colors and crisp air.
Average Temp: 40°F – 65°F
What to Expect: September can be surprisingly warm, often called “Second Summer.” By late October, rain returns and snow begins to dust the high peaks.
Best For: Leaf peeping, mushroom foraging, and quiet hiking trails.
Suggested Stay: Dog Friendly Getaways »
