Winter in Phoenix: Mild and Comfortable

While most of the country braces for winter cold, Phoenix stays mild with daytime highs ranging from 60°F to 70°F. Winter is the peak tourist season as visitors from colder climates flock to Phoenix for a warm escape. It’s a great time for golfing, hiking, and sightseeing without worrying about the desert heat.

Evenings and early mornings can be chilly, with lows dipping into the 40s, so pack layers if you’re planning outdoor activities. Despite the cooler mornings and nights, Phoenix remains dry throughout the winter, with very little rainfall.

For those planning to stay at one of our luxury Phoenix rentals, winter is ideal for enjoying heated pools and outdoor dining. A trip to the desert botanical gardens, or a round of golf at TPC Scottsdale, will feel just right with the pleasant winter temperatures.

Summer in Phoenix: Scorching Heat

In summer, Phoenix lives up to its desert reputation. Temperatures regularly soar above 100°F, with highs reaching 110°F or more during June, July, and August. The city experiences clear skies and intense sun, making this the hottest season by far. If you’re visiting in the summer, be prepared to stay hydrated, wear sunscreen, and seek shade or air-conditioned spaces during the heat of the day.

Even though summer brings extreme temperatures, Phoenix does experience brief relief from the heat thanks to the monsoon season. This period, typically from July to September, brings dramatic thunderstorms and occasional downpours. While these storms are short-lived, they can cool things down slightly, although the humidity tends to rise during this time.

If you’re planning outdoor activities in the summer—such as golfing, hiking, or lounging by the pool—make sure to do them early in the morning or late in the evening to avoid the peak heat. Many of our Phoenix rentals feature a pool, spending your poolside time can be any time of day, allowing you to still enjoy your vacation without worrying about the midday heat.
